What Dreams May Come (1998)

IMDB: www.imdb.com/title/tt0120889/

What Dreams May Come is my all time most favourite movie. I recently read the Novel of the same name by Richard Matheson (see my Soulful Books blog post). So I was inspired to post this movie. It has been a number of years since I watched this movie, hence it hasn’t made it to this blog up until now.

The novel and the movie have a very similar plot, both have individual sub plots that are not in the other. So if you have enjoyed one, you can experience more by watching/reading the other.

I really love both the book and the movie, firstly because it is a great love story. Also they both feature a lot of information about the afterlife which matches much of what I have learnt about the afterlife from my extensive reading.

A new special effect was created for this movie it involves Robin Williams’ character, Chris Nielsen, walking through a landscape that resembles a painting created by his wife, Annie. This effect showcases Chris navigating a world that is vividly painted, where plucking a flower transforms it into oil paint in his hand. (Painting the Afterlife in WHAT DREAMS MAY COME).

I see from the cover of the book that Richard Matheson also wrote Somewhere in Time another of my favourite movies.
